Description

From a revolutionary franchise that inspired countless games until nowadays, Samus Aran was the first female character and protagonist in gaming industry, which does not receive its due recognition. Strong and determined, she surprised many players since 1986 by revealing only at the end of the game her true identity, serving as a clever criticism to the sexist thinking from those who had the conviction that the character was a man during the whole gameplay.

Samus came from a tragic origin, witnessing while just a child the death of her parents and the invasion of her planet. She was protected and adopted by the Chozo, known to possess the most advanced technology in the galaxy, received training, besides a Power Suit, with the purpose of protecting others and become a galaxy’s guardian. Designed by the Chozo through an AI and integrated with the user’s DNA, Power Suits are biomechanical super armors built for protection and combat. The choice of Varia Suit in this artwork represents the resiliency of Samus since it’s utilities are related to damage reduction and resistance to extreme temperatures and because it is the only suit to appear in every Metroid game.
